The board at CENORED has appointed Gawie Awaseb as the acting CEO of the company for three months. Awaseb has been working for the company for about 18 years as a Network Operation Executive.
This follows after the former CEO of CENORED, Roberts Kahimise was appointed as new CEO of the Electricity Control Board on 1st April 2023. Kahimise has served as the CEO of CENORED in Otjiwarongo from November 2020 until 31 March 2023.
Speaking at the conference the board chairperson of CENORED Moses Matyayi, said that being a proprietary limited company they should be able to live up to the shareholder’s expectation and one of the aspects is for the company to be profitable.
“During Kahimise tenure we are proud to say we were able to be profitable, we had made a loss of at least 9 million in 2020 and just within a year of Kahimise taking over the office we were able to make a profit of 16.7 million in 2021 which is profit after tax,” says Matyayi.
Matyayi added that with Kahimise tenure they were able to turn around the fortune of the company as far as cooperate governance, performance and response level is concerned. “In 2022 we were still able to meet a target of making profit of at least 4.4 million,” he added.
According to Matyayi it is a privilege to introduce their acting CEO Gawie Awaseb who is a seasoned executive who have been with the company from the inception and who understands the electricity supply industry until their able to get a substantive CEO.
